Capital Growth Medvest Breaks Ground on Two Medical Facilities in Lynchburg, Virginia
Capital Growth Medvest proudly announces the commencement of construction on two advanced medical facilities in Lynchburg, Virginia. This endeavor includes Centra Rehabilitation Hospital and Centra Behavioral Health Hospital, strategically located side by side on Simons Run, to enhance the continuum of care for patients in the region.
In partnership with Centra Health, Lifepoint Rehabilitation and Lifepoint Behavioral Health, both affiliates of Lifepoint Health, and industry-leading architects and engineers, Capital Growth Medvest is developing both hospitals to provide top-tier patient care while maximizing operational efficiency. As a reflection of Capital Growth Medvest’s commitment to excellence, these facilities will elevate healthcare standards in Virginia, meeting the rising demand for specialized rehabilitation and behavioral health services.
Centra Rehabilitation Hospital will feature 50 beds within a 62,500-square-foot facility. Designed with the latest healthcare technology and modern architectural finishes, the hospital will offer comprehensive rehabilitation services. These include intensive nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, and speech pathology, all supported by cutting-edge equipment and innovative treatments to help patients recover from neurological injuries or functional impairments.
Next door, the 72-bed, 61,000-square-foot Centra Behavioral Health Hospital will provide a holistic, compassionate approach to behavioral health treatment. The facility will offer crisis stabilization for acute mental health and substance use disorders. It will serve adults, seniors, and adolescents through its thoughtfully designed spaces, including open-air environments, expansive patient rooms, community areas, and state-of-the-art clinical spaces. This environment aims to foster healing and support patients and their families throughout treatment.
These two Lynchburg projects represent Capital Growth Medvest’s sixth and seventh development partnerships with Lifepoint, spanning six states: Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Washington, Montana, and now Virginia. With over 400,000 square feet of developed space dedicated to rehabilitation and behavioral health, Capital Growth Medvest continues to lead the charge in bringing accessible, high-quality healthcare services to communities nationwide.
Carter Bank, based in Virginia, serves as the senior lender for these projects, demonstrating its commitment to advancing regional healthcare infrastructure. Capital Growth Medvest is collaborating with JE Dunn Capital Partners and Sila Realty Trust, a publicly traded New York Stock Exchange company, to bring these facilities to life.
“This expansion allows us to address a significant community need by improving access to inpatient rehabilitation and behavioral health services in the Lynchburg area,” said Cleve Haralson, Senior Vice President, Joint Ventures and Strategic Services, Lifepoint. “We are thrilled to play a pivotal role in bringing these vital services to the region.”
Nashville-based JE Dunn is the general contractor for the projects, and Earl Swensson Associates and Stengel Hill Associates are the architects for the rehabilitation and behavioral health hospitals, respectively.
Both hospitals are slated for completion in late 2025, marking a major step forward in delivering innovative and compassionate healthcare to Central Virginia.
